Welcome!

JLGWH implemented “A Mother’s Voice” project; encouraging communication between incarcerated mothers and their children.  Supported by Sheriff Grady Judd, our volunteers go into the jail dorms to meet one on one with the mothers and grandmothers who have fallen on difficult times. During the meeting, a digital recording is made of the mother reading a book based on what she knows to be of interest to her child.  This heartfelt reading is then converted playable disc.   Once completed, the book, the disc and a portable cd player are delivered to the child.  Though their living circumstances are not of the norm, the need for a continued relationship between mother and child is just as important.  What an awesome feeling be a part of helping a child fall asleep while listening to their mother read to them … while listening to A Mother’s Voice!
