The Regency Center for Women and Infants is a new partnership for JLGWH. The initial project includes remodeling the mother/baby room used by mothers and families with babies in the NICU. This is a multipurpose room utilized primarily for mothers to feed infants, families to visit with the infants, and families to relax during long stays at the hospital.
The committee is working to provide a relaxing and functional room for the families of these precious little ones. Local photographer, Mike Potthast of Potthast Studios, will showcase the room’s theme, “We got our Start in the NICU,” with current photographs of children who began their lives in the Regency Center’s NICU. We hope that families visiting this room will draw inspiration and find hope in the faces of others who overcame the adversity their own babies now face.
Upon approval from the hospital the members of the Junior League of Greater Winter Haven (JLGWH), with the help of local service vendors, will makeover the current room with fresh paint, new flooring, counter tops, faucets, hardware, and furniture. In addition we will be adding a TV and DVD player along with other items for children while they are there.
JLGWH is excited about the future of this room, which should be completed early in 2011.
